October 26, 2013

On Monday, October 28th, the AIA | LA recognized ALI's commitment to research and design for the public benefit with a Presidential Honor Award for Community Contribution.

Founding co-directors Hadley and Peter Arnold accepted the award on behalf of ALI's students, alumni, and partners.

Other 2013 AIA | LA Presidential Honor Awardees include Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti; land artist James Turrell; LACMA director Michael Govan; and LA Planning Commissioner Bill Roschen.

From AIA | LA:  "The Community Contribution Award recognizes individuals whose personal and professional achievements show a commitment to the profession of architecture as a community.  In the words of Woodbury University’s president, Dr. Luis Calingo, who is here with us tonight to celebrate the award, Hadley and Peter Arnold have “strengthened the Woodbury education with their perspectives on very important regional and global issues.” In recognition of this and the inspirational research they have done which highlights opportunities for professionals to create healthier watersheds and better manage our scarce water resources, we recognize Hadley and Peter Arnold and Arid Land Institute with this year’s Community Contribution award."
